CageworX Fight Team Rocked the Warehouse Wars

The CageworX fight team recently made a great showing at Warehouse Wars in Arlington last Saturday! Josh ‘El Matador’ McCool and Darrell L. Hutchins took to the ring for some exciting kickboxing bouts.

Darrell hasn’t been in a ring or cage for over four years and had a hard three-round match up. Although this kickboxing smoker didn’t decide winners or losers, Darrell was the obvious winner against a tough opponent.

El Matador felt out his opponent for a brief period and then put an end to it with a body kick that took his guy down at 1:01 of the first round.

Thanks to Landon Showalter for the opportunity, and for putting on a good old fashioned smoker event where guys and girls can get a more realistic fight show

CageworX Fighter Josh Pulczinski Muay Thai training
Yup, Josh is the reason why the gym’s contour bag is no more.

Saturday, May 30th, CageworX MMA participated in the USEACA*  Muay Thai Cultural Event. This was Washington state’s first Pro/Am Muay Thai event, held at the Nisqually Youth & Community Center in Olympia.

CageworX fighter, Josh Pulczinski, fought well losing by decision against a tough opponent. He trained hard for this one and we’re extremely proud of him! We later found out that he’d managed to stay on his feet for all three rounds despite having pneumonia. Josh McCool of CageworX also worked hard to prepare for his fight; unfortunately, his opponent dropped out at the last minute.

3630 S. Cedar Street • Tacoma, WA •

The CageworX Kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Team will be returning to Tacoma, WA this May! It’s a fun opportunity to meet other children, sharpen their games and learn good sportsmanship. King of the Mat BJJ Tournament

Saturday • May 9, 2015 • Eatonville Middle School
207 Carter St. E • Eatonville, WA

Small tournaments are a great way to get more competition experience. They also tend to be less expensive. This one is $35 for gi only, $35 for no-gi only, or $50 for both. There are divisions for kids, men, women and masters (age 40+). Register online and check out the rules at

Proving Grounds VI: Submission Only Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Tournament

Saturday • May 30, 2015 • Interlake High School
16245 Northeast 24th St. • Bellevue, WA •

This a great opportunity for both kids (age 5-17) and adults to further challenge themselves. Rather than the more typical point system, this tournament is submission only, eliminating some aspects of sport Jiu-Jitsu that focus on winning by points. We encourage members of our CageworX family to enter the competition which offers both gi and no gi divisions. Keep in mind that most of the CageworX coaching staff will NOT be available on this date due to a scheduling conflict (see below). Instead, we will be cheering on the Joshes at their Muay Thai kickboxing matches!

The CageworX Fight Team Shines!

The CageworX Fight Team took to the cage in what was our last fight show of 2014.  United Show of Force 3, hosted by the United Fitness Center in Kent WA took place on Dec. 21.  The CageworX team members on the card were Garrett Buerner and Jake Blaski.  After a long absence from the cage, Garrett Buerner had an MMA fight and demonstrated outstanding skill and technique. He finished his opponent, Sebatian Kirkland, in just over one minute of the very first round with a textbook guillotine choke.  Next up on the card was Jake in his second kickboxing bout.  Blaski showed a tremendous improvement in his stand-up game and proved what putting time into your training will do for you.  He went a full three rounds with a very tough opponent and walked away with the ‘W’ via unanimous judges’ decision.

Click here to see video of Garrett Buerner’s fight.

Check back here soon for a link to Jake Blaski’s fight video!

Contact us to learn more about kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA training in Port Angeles for fitness or competition. No, you don’t have to be a cage fighter to train with us, but you can certainly enjoy the benefits of the intensive workout!
