CageworX’s sister gym in the Tri-Cities, Legacy Jiu Jitsu Academy, had their Grand Opening Weekend on January 13 & 14. To show our support, Cody Houston, Jenn Lozada and Josh McCool traveled to Richland, WA. Despite the unusually snowy weather, the weekend CageworX Muay Thai and BJJ Seminars were well attended.
On Friday night, Coach Jenn guest taught their women-only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, emphasizing concept-based jiu jitsu and guard retention. On Saturday, Coach Cody taught two seminars: a morning Muay Thai session focusing on simple yet very effective basics and an afternoon Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class on bottom modified kesagatame techniques. Black belt Jay Bretz, who had driven from Leavenworth, also helped out during the BJJ session. Special thanks to Megan and Brendin Phillips for hosting us and throwing a great post-seminar party!
It was a pleasure to reconnect with familiar faces and to support Legacy Jiu Jitsu Academy’s future success. They’re a great group of people offering family-friendly martial arts instruction in both kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. We highly recommend you visit them next time you’re in the Tri-Cities area!
